Who we are


The organisations active in the European Campaign for Gender Equality Architecture Reform (GEAR) at the United Nations are informally linked through a European working group that communicated regularly on the direction of the lobbying activities and public campaigning in Europe. We form the European Focal Point focal within the global GEAR Campaign Working Group.

Action for Southern AfricaACTSA

Action for Southern Africa (ACTSA) campaigns with the people of Southern Africa as they strive to build a better future. Working for peace, democracy and development across the region, ACTSA is the successor organisation to the Anti Apartheid Movement. ACTSA influences decision makers of British and European policies that affect southern Africa. A key campaigning area is universal gender equality.

European Women’s Lobby EWL

Founded in 1990, the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) is the largest alliance of women’s non-governmental organisation in the European Union and has national coordinations in 30 European countries and 19 European-wide member organisations. The EWL works for the advancement of equality between women and men as well as the mainstreaming and monitoring of a feminist gender equality perspective in all areas of European policy.

International Gender Policy NetworkIGPN

The International Gender Policy Network is a non-profit, non-governmental network organization aiming at promoting gender equitable and gender sensitive public policy at all levels of global society. IGPN advocates for the inclusion of women’s human rights into the national, regional and global policy agenda and for full implementation of social, economic and culture rights of women.

OXFAM Novib

Oxfam Novib, a member of Oxfam International, is fighting for a just world without poverty. Together with people, organisations, businesses and governments. Through projects and lobbying. Locally and internationally. Because poverty and injustice are global problems. They are about unjust economic and political relationships.

Women in Development Europe

WIDE is a European feminist network of women´s organisations, development NGOs, gender specialists and womens rights activists. WIDE monitors and influences international economic and development policy and practice from a feminist perspective. WIDE´s work is grounded on womens rights as the basis for the development of a more just and democratic world order and the search for alternative approaches to the economic mainstream.
