UN Secretary-General responds to GEAR Campaign

[New York, 23 November 2009] The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has responded to the letter that was sent to him last month by the GEAR Campaign.

In his response the Secretary-General assures that he "attaches utmost importance to the timely delivery" of all the requests related to setting up the new UN gender equality entity outlined in the resolution of 14 September. He also mentions that civil society when consultations regarding the new entity will be organized with relevant stakeholders, also civil society will be included.
