GEAR Campaign response to SG’s report
[New York, 20 February 2010] Secretary General's proposal for the new UN gender equality entity is a good guideline for taking action to set up the new entity. However, it falls short of what is needed in several important issues, says the GEAR Campaign in its response to the UN Secretary General's report.
According to the GEAR Campaign more clarity is needed in issues related to country level operational capacity, long term funding for the entity, civil society participation, and a clear timeline for the appointment of the Under Secretary-General to head the entity.
